First Steps in the Schools of Reggio Emilia

Digital Study Group

Have you heard about the Reggio Emilia Approach® but not had opportunities to know more?

Following the January Study Group, we return with the second edition of our Digital Study Group "First Steps in the Schools of Reggio Emilia" designed for those of you who want to discover more about Reggio Emilia’s educational project starting from the foundations.

3 live meetings on June 12, 14 and 16 from 2pm - 4:30 pm (Rome time) with 2 pedagogistas from Reggio Emilia's infant-toddler centres and preschools, and 4 video films lasting 60 minutes each.

12 hours of professional learning for you to discover the values and hear about experiences told through diverse documentation materials.

This initiative is promoted by Reggio Children with Preschools and Infant-toddler Centres - Istituzione of Reggio Emilia Municipality.

Enrolments and payment open until 31 May 2023

Here there are children and adults seeking the pleasure of playing, working, talking, thinking and inventing together.

Loris Malaguzzi

This study group is an opportunity to discover the educational project of Reggio Emilia through recorded materials and live conversations with pedagogistas who work in the city's municipal infant-toddler centres and preschools every day.

The two pedagogistas who will follow you for the entire duration of the digital study group will discuss 3 fundamental concepts for the Reggio Emilia Approach:

  • The image of child and the idea of learning
  • The 100 languages and the culture of the Atelier
  • Environments/spaces and learning contexts

4 video films which you will find in your personal area on the Reggio Children website will allow you to become more familiar with these themes.

The materials will be yours until 1 month after the end of the study group. You can watch them again and again, take notes, and highlight what is not clear to you for sharing in the live sessions.

Each live meeting is dedicated to one of the fundamental concepts: the two pedagogistas will comment on parts of the recorded video material and propose new content for a deeper understanding of the theme.

The Zoom platform will be our virtual classroom where you can share questions, thoughts and reflections.

From your own home you can ask questions and interact with other participants.

Documentation in the form of videos and presentations will let you take your first steps in infant-toddler centres and preschools where the Reggio Emilia Approach is renewed each day.

A unique opportunity for those of you who haven't been able to visit Reggio Emilia yet and are curious to discover this educational approach.
