Research

“Either education is a situation of research and this research produces new pedagogy, or it is the provision of a service that is delivered to young children, subjecting them in a message which is already completely prefabricated and codified in some way.”
Loris Malaguzzi

Reggio Children promotes research projects on childhood, education, and the quality of living and inhabiting in children and adults.

Research is a founding concept of Reggio Children’s activities: research as a way of thinking and as an approach to the future. A way of thinking of ourselves in relation to the world and in relation to life capable of producing the kind of innovation that can only derive from research.

Reggio Emilia’s infant-toddler centres and preschools are our primary places of research in the area of education, on children’s ways of building knowledge, in groups, and individually

Research is an inalienable dimension of education. The infant-toddler centres and preschools cannot declare themselves to be places truly respectful of children, and builders of a culture of childhood, without research as a daily and permanent attitude of the thinking of all those involved in the educational project.

Over the years research projects have been realised with Italian and international partners.
