For the centenary of Loris Malaguzzi’s birth, a conference that takes its starting point as the experience of Reggio Emilia’s infant-toddler centres and preschools, with the proposition of encompassing issues at the centre of debate, discussion and reflection today; debate and discussion that transcend the terms of childhood’s situation and instead impact human beings, relationships, women, formative experience, inter-personal relations, culture, and gender culture. THE CONFERENCE
Thursday 20 February, 2am-7pm - Plenary session, R. Valli Municipal Theatre
Friday 21 February, 9am-4.30pm - Thematic seminars in various venues
The Conference wishes to offer an occasion for continuing to shape the future of Reggio Emilia’s experience of infant-toddler centres and preschools, using the thinking of Loris Malaguzzi and those who worked with him as a starting point, for all those who want to create new and different schools.
International and Italian speakers will be participating to contribute to reflection on various areas of knowledge.
The Plenary session and two of the five seminars (1.The right to rights, and 3.The right to research) will be in Italian and English with simultaneous translation.
VISIT THE SCHOOLS
After the Friday seminars, Reggio Emilia’s municipal infant-toddler centres and preschools will be open for visits.
During the week there will also be opportunities for a deeper understanding of some experiences generated in Reggio Emilia, such as the Remida-Creative Recycling Centre, which will be open to conference participants on Thursday 20 February.
