Rechild

A question mark is a hook for your head

A question mark is a hook for the mind, says Divine, aged 4. And questions are precisely where this issue of our Rechild newsletter begins, dedicated entirely to research as an essential dimension of education.

Research is at the heart of the Reggio Emilia Approach: it is the strategy that generates constant pedagogical innovation and produces educational, social, cultural and economic value. It gives shape to the possible, starting from questions, hypotheses, phenomena and problems that children and teachers transform through concrete actions in municipal infant-toddler centres and preschools.

In this issue of Rechild, you will discover:

  • The strategies and meanings of our research, together with a selection of projects carried out and underway between the Reggio Emilia education system and Italian and international partners
  • A conversation with Maddalena Tedeschi (President of Reggio Children) and Federico Ruozzi (President of Preschools and Infant-toddler Centres – Istituzione) on the themes of research and innovation
  • Valuable contributions from Claudia Giudici, Annalisa Rabotti, Howard Gardner, Mara Krechevsky and Susanna Mantovani
  • Projects that forge bonds: how daily research creates participation, care, and new citizenships

Because, as Loris Malaguzzi reminds us: “Either education is a situation of continuous research, or it is a prefabricated service”.
