Centro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi
Viale Ramazzini, 72/A
42124 Reggio Emilia - Italia
The year 2026 marks a constellation of special anniversaries for Reggio Emilia’s education system: 20 years since the opening of the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre, 20 years since the first Reggionarra event, 20 years since the birth of the Reggio Children International Network together with the 50th anniversary of seven infant-toddler centres.
They are milestones in a story that started long ago with the collective gesture of women and men building schools as places of daily democracy. Today that same responsibility re-interrogates our challenging present: remembering means choosing where we stand, it means continuing to invest in childhood as a space of possibility, peace and justice.
The thread running through the whole year is the 100 languages, the vision Loris Malaguzzi elaborated that recognises the plurality of ways of thinking, expressing and knowing in every child and every adult.
This year of anniversaries opens with celebrations for Loris Malaguzzi’s birthday in a calendar of events from February into March.
A year that wants to be an invitation to look at the world with new eyes, holding past, present and future together.Because when a memory is alive, it does not stop: it is a beginning. And as Loris Malaguzzi reminded us nothing is possible without joy.
