The city of shoes

In a town far away in Sicily, which is a place by the sea, there were no people, but only shoes! The people had gone to another country with new shoes, and abandoned the old ones in the city, because old things can’t be kept forever and they no longer wanted them.

The shoes also walked without the people. There were more than 100,000 shoes, all different: there was a boot for going out when it was dark, a high top sneaker, the slipper for staying inside and going to the beach, high-heeled shoes for going to the disco and the theatre, and children's shoes with shiny soles and a running shoe... this shoe went very fast!

In this city, the shoes wandered around, then stopped at night. In the morning they ‘were loaded’ to walk: the high boot went to the vegetable garden, the trainers to walk the dog, and the children's shoes went to school. But they felt lonely, so they decided to go to the town of Bulugna where there were people without shoes. When the boot and the barefoot people meet, they feel united, excited and happy, because they found each other. The boot went looking for the Befana because ‘the Befana comes at night with her shoes all broken’, the tall sneaker went looking for a tall person and the running shoe went looking for a fast person like Sonic.

And everyone was happy.
