Reinventing an atypical place and opening up new possibilities for teaching and learning – across languages and disciplines – is more essential than ever. The theme of the outdoors in education is increasingly relevant: is it possible to observe the courtyards and gardens, the outdoor spaces of our schools, and interpret them at a design level?
The atelier aims to renew our view of the International Centre's outdoor area and reinterpret it through a hundred languages, which we consider witnesses and generators of learning and new research.
We have an opportunity to experience a place that is only apparently lacking in possibilities, but which is in fact full of life and curiosity yet to be revealed. Together we will seek to develop the ability to listen to spaces, materials and tools that will allow us to identify some of the peculiarities of places, to reflect, discuss and thus find those concepts on which to base the beginning of a design structure.
The park can thus become a real resource thanks to all those who are able to interpret and reinterpret it.
The Reggio Emilia Approach® is an educational philosophy based on the image of a child with strong potentialities for development and a subject with rights, who learns through the hundred languages belonging to all human beings, and grows in relations with others.
