The city of memories

The Monumental Cemetery of Reggio Emilia, a silent and immobile place, comes alive: little birds, angels, queens, aviators, planets... encountered and imagined at the same time, brought to life in the memories of those who are here today, present. 

The invitation is to walk through the Monumental Cemetery listening to the children’s points of view.

The city is not only a material structure, but also a symbolic structure, where children trace signs of a present and past community: history materializes in a physical space, which children read through its colors, writings, photographs, symbols.

The children recognize remembrance as part of everyone's life, as a trace of the identity of people and a community: the city is seen as a crossroads between past and present lives that are shared and part of us.
