In the former Locatelli compound, an industrial area dating back to the 1920s, the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre is a place for meeting and discussion, open to all ages, ideas and cultures. A place of places, with ateliers, exhibitions, a bookshop, coffee shop and restaurant, auditoriums and meeting rooms.

It offers publications and audiovisual materials, published by Reggio Children and available in several languages, dedicated to projects, exhibitions and research that give voice to and explore the Reggio Emilia Approach®.
In addition to books, the Bookshop offers items, small tinkering traces, and glimpses into the thoughts of the children in Reggio Emilia’s infant-toddler centres and preschools.
There are also Italian and foreign pedagogical texts for sale, produced in collaboration with Reggio Children, as well as a section of books translated into twenty-six languages.
The palette of proposals also includes a careful and up-to-date selection of children’s books by authors and publishers from all over the world.

It collects, organises and promotes the various documents produced by infant-toddler centres and preschools in the city. It is aimed at teachers, educators, pedagogical coordinators, students and anyone interested in the world of education.
The Centre for Documentation and Educational Research of Preschools and Infant-toddler Centres– Istituzione of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, housed at the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre since 2006, was founded to valorise and give quality to experiences of the infant-toddler centres and preschools of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia.
In addition to the publications produced in infaant-toddler centres and preschools, the Documentation Centre makes available for consultation project documents, series of publications and reports, a newspaper and magazine library (a collection of magazines and periodicals on educational and social issues), a slide library, a tape library and a library containing volumes on psychology, pedagogy, sociology, art, literature and international publishing, alongside that of Reggio Children. All materials are organised in a database. There is also a historical archive containing documents, writings and evidences relating to the establishment of infant-toddler centres and preschools.
At the same time, it promotes and supports professional development and research processes for educators, teachers and professionals in the Municipality and Province of Reggio Emilia. Over the years, thematic seminars have been organised, which are also open to teachers and educators from other cities and provinces.

The Loris Malaguzzi International Centre offers multiple possibilities for conferences, private and company events, and eating out.
The Reggio Emilia Approach® permeates every corner of the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre, making it a unique place for hosting business events, receptions and private parties. The building houses rooms of different seating capacities and has up to 2,000 square metres of exhibition space, offering flexible adaptable spaces and personalised solutions for every need: conventions and conferences, company and silver service dinners, standing buffets and parties.
An integrated system with a restaurant, coffee shop and food shop that combines food and culture in relation to the local area.
Exhibitions document learning processes in children and teachers, and aspires to work as a "democratic piazza" or square, a public spaces where new ideas of childhood, education and knowledge can be offered and discussed. Over the years they have contributed to the knowledge and diffusion of the Reggio Emilia Approach® in the world.
The ateliers at the Centre are open to adults, families, children and schools. These spaces can be visited to encounter the 100 languages, but also explored during the two days of visits to the Centre or on Sundays for children, families and adults. They go around Italy and the world as travelling ateliers, combined with exhibitions, to communicate “thinking with hands”.
