DOCUMENTATION: Making Learning Visible

WEBINAR

This deeper investigation on the theme of documentation and design (progettazione) will take place over two days: 1 and 3 December.

Participants must necessarily take part in both these webinars. In cases where participants cannot be present for the live version of the webinar, it will be possible to view the webinar recording, which will be available some days later.

 

Why document? What is the relation between documentation and design / progettazione?

Design / progettazione is a working strategy whereby teachers, rather than planning a course beforehand, formulate hypotheses, expectations, predictions, and possibilities, open to the encounter with children, and which take on form in this relation.

In this context documentation makes observation visible by giving a voice to children and their thoughts, it seeks to show which learning processes are taking place in these relational contexts, and offers a tool for identifying and choosing ways of proceeding.

Therefore observation and documentation are fundamental strategies for the teacher who through them, writes the design or progettazione as a text (made of multiple languages) integrating the “writings” of the adults and those of the children.

LANGUAGE

Webinars will be conducted in Italian with simultaneous translation into English. Select your preferred language, Italian or English, by clicking “INTERPRETATION” on the Webinar platform.

 

TIME

All Webinar times are given in Central European Time (CET), which is local time in Italy. Please be careful to calculate what time this corresponds to in your own location before deciding which Webinar to sign up for.

One hour before your chosen webinar we will send a link to the email address provided during enrolment.

You can also connect to your webinar, one hour before the start, by clicking “connect” in your reserved area on the relevant webinar page.

COPYRIGHT & PRIVACY

Under no circumstances may photographs or videos of speakers and their multimedia documentation/presentations be taken.

Educational material (multi media documentation in PowerPoint, video recordings etc.) presented during the Webinar, cannot be ceded, either to organizers or to participants.

 

READING LIST

A bibliography of reference reading material will be published the day after your Webinar.  You can find the reading list  in your reserved area, in YOUR PURCHASES, under the webinar you attended, in RESOURCES.  

 

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE

The day after the event you will receive a Certificate of Attendance for the webinar you have attended in your reserved area. You can find the certificate in YOUR PURCHASES, under the webinar you attended, in RESOURCES.

 

WEBINAR RECORDING AND REPLAY

After 3 days, a recording of the live webinar will be made available in your reserved area, in the section YOUR PURCHASES, under the webinar you attended, in RESOURCES

Please note: if the webinar live is on Thursday, the registration will be available starting from the following Tuesday.

The webinar recording will be available for a week.

Atelierista

Barbara Quinti has been an atelierista at the “Bruno Munari” municipal preschool, Istituzione of Preschools and Infant-toddler Centres of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, since 1996. Quinti collaborates with Reggio Children on realising publishing projects, and on professional learning journeys through participating in seminars and workshops in Italy and abroad.
