Children and adults addressing complexity together

Children’s right to participate in making meaning of life events.

Childhood, even today, unfortunately is the object of two opposing visions that we encounter in the media every day: childhood as a golden age, unconscious of life’s difficulties, and in contrast, a violated childhood subjected to violence and the negation of rights.

These two visions often prevent us from relating to childhood as part of humanity, to children who are living and trying to interpret the meaning of events, not always happy, in their own lives and the lives of others.

This web conference would like to offer a deeper reflection on the importance of adults not stepping back from dialogue with children on difficult issues, and strategies and ways of working that promote original ways of processing them.

WEB CONFERENCE SERIES: New challenges in education today

With a series of conferences scheduled for the 5, 12 September and 24 October we will present, dig into, and compare notes on the Reggio Emilia Approach with the people and protagonists actively engaged here.

Together with Reggio Children, teachers, pedagogistas, and atelieristas, will tell stories of experience and projects from daily life in Reggio Emilia’s municipal preschools and infant-toddler centres and the Loris Malaguzzi Centre… discussing the challenges, new and old, we all face today.

Web conference Series: New challenges in education today

Reggio Emilia interrogates and explores the new challenges of education

This series of web conferences is dedicated to the Reggio Emilia Approach and wishes to address challenges in education from the starting point of these particular and delicate times.

Education must always be capable of analysing and interpreting the cultural, social and historical contexts it works in, and in which the children live.

These very critical times have raised new questions about the ways we imagine and experience society and its institutions, and the Reggio Emilia Approach would like to offer some reflection on the main issues that health risks and long-term closure of schools and education services represent for children’s rights, parents’ rights, and teachers’ rights.
