Vol.5: School, buildings, furnishing

Parallel lives, impossible lives?

Available in other languages

This is the fifth in Reggio Children's "Fragments" series dedicated to making Loris Malaguzzi's writing, and his talks at conferences and professional learning meetings, available to a wider public.

The text in this volume is dedicated to the themes, still very topical today, of school buildings and furnishing.
Since the beginning Reggio Emilia’s municipal infant-toddler centres and preschools have placed a special importance on physical environments and spaces, aware of the “constraining interaction” between architecture, furnishings, and educational purpose.
But as Malaguzzi states, school furniture, still today, is “behind the times” compared with evolutions in architecture, design, the culture of inhabiting, and pedagogy.
