This exhibition inaugurates a new project in which the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre will display interesting work by emerging artists, both national and international.

Alongside the exhibitions there will be an atelier space, conceived as another point of view for visitors to listen to the artworks displayed and explore some of the processes suggested by the artist’s work.

The poetics of Swedish artist Karin Furness express a particular aspect of the identity of the Nordic people, in a sensitive empathy with nature which in this case generates interpretations that are at once severe and graceful.
Ecological thought grasps the vital fluid present in living organisms and the continuous transformation that takes place in the various phases of their existence, seeking and recognizing the grace in each.

In this expository landscape, the groups of works are accompanied by brief comments from the artist, since we feel it is particularly interesting to know the genesis of the works as told by the artist herself.

“The organic limestone shapes, so difficult to capture, fascinated me. During my walks my eyes have been drawn to the shapes and structures of bark, leaves and stones – especially to nature’s irregularities and signs of growth…

… my favourite month is November – a time of moulding, blackening and decay. This is when darkness and frailty replace the happier seasons…

… textile sculptures were not as weighed down by tradition as drawing and painting. I felt a sudden freedom. I started working more intuitively and to trust the material’s contribution to expression.”
