Graphic Traces of the Children in the City exhibition
On November 12, 2011 the infant-toddler centres and preschools of Reggio Emilia displayed significant traces of the children’s creativity in 38 sites around the town, including shops and offices, cafes and restaurants, social and cultural centres.
The works created were black and white drawings designed in relation to the sites in which they were situated, or videos of the many languages with which children from the infant-toddler centres encounter and create drawings. These are the drawings and videos presented in the exhibition.
The project created a sort of atelier spread through the streets of the historic town center, also as a way to announce the upcoming elections for the City- Childhood Councils.
Events like this help the city to understand the great importance of investing in the infant-toddler centres and preschools and how essential it is for ensuring their quality.
“The rule is simple: the serenity, intelligence, and pleasure of the children lie within the serenity, intelligence, and pleasure of the adults”
Forgetting this truth is like not understanding that culture and education are assets that belong to all and that may be shared and participated in by everyone.
